Cosy, Sustainable and Usable
Walkley Bank Road, Sheffield
The clients wanted help transforming their un-useable and very steeply sloped garden, into a garden they could enjoy and grow with. They also wanted to try and reduce the amount of waste and re-use materials where possible.
The design included gabion retaining walls, to be front-ed with reclaimed stone and back filled with dig out and rubble from site. The existing concrete paving slabs where to be reused for the cosy fire pit terrace, the slabs where to be painted with geometric stencils to give them a new lease of life.
Gravel areas have been used instead of hard paved are-as to help with drainage on site. The garden backs onto a woodland so the raised beds at the top have been de-signed to blend in with the woodland beyond.
In this woodland space a small deck area is nestled among the planting, built with reclaimed oak deck boards.
