Park Road, Hillsborough Sheffield - Rear courtyard garden design

Brief: The clients for this design wanted to create a relaxing oasis to escape to in an evening after a long days work. They wanted something modern and in keeping with their monochromatic colour scheme throughout their house.

Design: Clients had initially wanted the entire garden paved from fence to fence, after discussions we landed on a staggered edged patio allowing for pockets of planting. The rear wall was painted black and a silver birch tree added, the silver bark created a contrast with the wall. Architectural foliage planting was chosen to add drama to the space and create a mini tropical oasis in the middle of the city. Sawn grey sandstone with black joints created a solid surface for entertaining and relaxing.
