Brief: create a level space, remove rockery and create connection to the garden below.

Design: A large sandstone patio using 900x600mm slabs. Breaks in the paving with planting pockets to soften the space. Railway sleeper beds to retain the patio and replace the rockery. 7.5m wide steps down through centre of the bank. Dramatic statement. Steps built from Millboard to match the clients existing balcony. Sleeper beds packed with colourful perennials, drought tolerant shrubs and ornamental grasses. All dressed with decorative aggregate to help with weed suppression and water retention.
